Stonebwoy Silences Blakk Rasta

Stonebwoy Silences Blakk Rasta – For any, music lover and follower of the music scene in Ghana, one fact that is obviously clear is the emergence and dominance of Dancehall music.

Over the past few years, Dancehall music has taken center stage; we are having more Dancehall artistes announcing their presence on the music scene and many Dancehall songs are receiving massive airplay. Another fact to note is that many artistes who are noted for other genres of music are also now churning out Dancehall songs.

Notwithstanding the current emergence and dominance of Dancehall music on the Ghana music scene, Reggae artiste and Radio presenter, Blakk Rasta had noted that the Dancehall genre would die soon. He was confident of this even though Dancehall songs have been dominating the airwaves for some years now and most importantly a Dancehall artiste in the person of Shatta Wale was the reigning Artiste of the Year.

Adding to this, Vybrant Faya’s Mampi had won the Most Popular Song of the year award at the maiden edition of the GN Bank Awards, Shatta Wale, another Dancehall artiste winning the best Male Musician award also at the GN Bank Awards and Stonebwoy was in contention for the Artiste of the year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards but Blakk Rasta was still confident to reiterate that Dancehall music would die.

Evident of the fact that Dancehall music is not likely to die anytime soon in Ghana, Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has proved Blakk Rasta wrong by winning the award for Artiste of the year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. For Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to win the Artiste of the year awards in two consecutive Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is enough reason to mention that dancehall music in Ghana has come of age and it’s not likely to die anytime soon and prematurely.

It’s also interesting to note that in the Artiste of eh year category, Stonebwoy wasn’t the only Dancehall artiste in contention for the award. Samini, another Dancehall artiste was also in contention for the award.
