Are you having erectile dysfunction? There is a diet that can help

Erectile dysfunction occurs when a man can no longer get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. The article 5 possible reasons why your erection is weak reveals some possible causes of weak erection.

However, a study by Dr Athanasios Angelis is quite revealing as regards the problem of erectile dysfunction. Speaking at the EuroEcho-Imaging 2014 he said: “Erectile dysfunction is not a symptom of ageing, it is a bad sign from the body that something is wrong with the vasculature.”

“In 80 per cent of cases erectile dysfunction is caused by vascular problems and is a warning that patients are at increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.”

Dr Athanasios Angelis suggests that a diet of cereals, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, wine and olive oil has a direct contribution towards cardiovascular performance in patients with erectile dysfunction.

The study included 75 men with erectile dysfunction, aged 56 years on average and its aim was to investigate whether patients with erectile dysfunction who follow the Mediterranean diets have less vascular and cardiac damage.

The Mediterranean diet is defined by daily consumption of fruit, vegetables, unrefined cereals and pasta, olive oil and nuts; it is associated with lower cardiovascular events and could be a way to help erectile dysfunction patients lower their risk.
