Richard Asante aka Kalybos and Priscilla Opoku aka Ahuofe Patri of the Boys Kasa series are locked in a fierce duel as they compete for one award in the maiden edition of Ghana Tertiary Awards slated for 10th January, 2015 at the La Palm Beach Hotel Conference Room.
Kalybos and Ahuofe Patri, who are both students of the National Film and Television Training Institute earned their spurs in the popular Boys Kasa sitcom and has won them several contracts including the Airtel ads – and they have been nominated in the Most Influential Student category.
Organizers of the award scheme, Youth Web Entertainment hope by rewarding folks who have impacted society, both in academics and in the field of entertainment it will serve as a morale booster as well as serve as a catalyst of inspiration for others to get on board.
The awards whose focus is to award students whose lives are making impact on our society saw five (5) outstanding Engineering students who are all part of Black Engineers Associations of students, who have invented technological equipment.
Other students and halls that also made several social interventions were recognized and made it to the final Nominations list.
According to the C.E.O of Youth Web Entertainment, Mr. Richmond Amofa – Sarpong this Awards festival though dominated by students from the arts departments of the schools will also award students whose lives have changed their societies, through their contribution in the area of their work even though they are students.
Mr. Richmond Amofa – Sarpong also added that by the end of the Awards, “we would have created a strong generational breed of informed and competent tertiary students ready to take action for their rightful placement, as well as encourage them to engage in the activities of comprehensive, direct and context-specific strategies to empower the youth and leave a legacy.”
Other known showbiz people who had nomination in the Ghana Tertiary Awards are dancehall diva Mzvee – Ghana Telecom University College, Osei Kwaku Vincent (Strongman) – University of Cape Coast, Teephlow – Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Arnold Elavanyo – Nafti (TV Africa), Prince Dovlo – Ghana Telecom University College, among others.
