Kwahu Chiefs Brief Rawlings On Omanhene’s Death

A delegation of chiefs and elders from the Kwahu traditional area on thursday called on Ghana’s former President Jerry John Rawlings to formally announce the death of the Kwahumanhene and President of the Kwahu traditional council, Daasebre akuamoah Boateng ii.

The nine-member delegation led by Nana Somuah Mireku Nyampong, Asakrahene and Apagyahene of Kwahu, informed President Rawlings of the details of the final funeral rites and invited the former President and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to activities marking the home call of the departed.

The royal farewell for Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 80, will commence at Abene-Kwahu on Sunday December 7 and last for one week.

President Rawlings recalled memories of the departed royal and accepted the invitation to attend the final funeral rites. Other members of the delegation included Nana Owoahene Akyeampong, Head of Mpraeso Community in Accra and Tema; Nana Anim Ameyaw, Acting Head of Okwahu Community in Accra and Tema; Nana Darko, Okyeame of Abetifi; Nana Danso Abeam, Elder of Asakraka Kwahu and Nana Gyaase Yebua of the Accra Community.
